27 Jun Girls weekend: Pitchero interview the winning managers
We’ve got exclusive interviews with the U13, U15 & U17 winning coaches from last weekend’s Pitchero ACES Nationals 2017.
First up we have the two coaches who lead Preston North End Ladies U13’s to victory.
So guys, you’re Pitchero ACES National champions, just describe to us how you’re feeling.
Yeah really excited, so pleased with the girls.
Just seeing some of the stuff they produced out there against top teams as well, it’s just great for us to see what they take in training and putting it into games against top teams. It’s brilliant.
How must that make you feel, working so hard throughout the season and then obviously coming here and beating all the best teams in the country in your age group, it must be a great feeling?
It makes it worthwhile, doesn’t it? We’ve put a lot of effort in and the girls listen, work hard and yeah it’s nice to get something out of it.
Just seeing the girls smiling out there against top teams and just, yeah, they’ve put a lot of effort in and got to a great tournament and seeing them have fun and enjoying it makes it worthwhile.
It’s what it is all about.
We spoke to Washington FC’s manager after they won in the U15’s category.
Washington FC are Pitchero ACES National champions and record levellers, how would you sum up your day?
It’s been a day of mixed emotions, there’s been a lot of pressure on the girls but we knew we had the ability in the team to do it, it was obviously how they performed on the day.
It is absolutely unbelievable to be champions again for the fourth year running. It’s our favourite tournament we come to, every year we won’t miss it, it’s the one we want to win. The level of football here is fantastic and I couldn’t be prouder of the girls.
Finally, we spoke to FC Sprowston’s managers after their triumph in the U17’s age group.
FC Sprowston are the Pitchero ACES National champions, just describe to us what it means and how you feel.
I think eight years ago when we started this we’d have called you insane if we’d have been stood here. It’s great, isn’t it?
Does it make all the years of hard work even better?
It’s not really been hard work, they’re (the girls) a pleasure to be honest with you. They’re just great, they’re great from start to finish and it’s all about them, to be honest.
